This is an archive of the musings of a student, and probably reflects that. If all goes according to plan the blog will cover mostly ‘adventures’ in knitting, photography, cooking, and reading. With some current events thrown in for good measure.
At this time (spring 2009), I would say I’m a reasonably experienced knitter with my mum teaching me when I was about eight.
I consider myself new at photography, even though I’ve been experimenting with it for the past two years. I feel I’m still approaching it from a painter or printer’s view, as a documentation to be used as the basis of other forms of art, rather than a laborious work of art on it’s own.
Cooking is something I’ve been doing for a long time, but I only really find baking interesting because it appeals to my Victorian aesthete side. I’m not sure why exactly, since most baked goods aren’t pretty. Generally, I don’t believe in using things from a preprepared box or tin unless I’ve mastered making it from scratch and that has become boring. I should add that any cooking related posts will be vegetarian or more accurately pescetarian since I eat fish. There also might be some omnivore friendly alternatives, but these won’t be things I’ve eaten myself, but rather prepared for others.
Reading is something I don’t do very often anymore, sadly. But when I do made the time, I tend to find myself waist-deep in distopian future science fiction, 19th century Russian literature, or things that are prettily written.
That huge text block hopefully is a good descriptor of the blog, if it isn’t get in touch and I’ll see if I agree and think it needs reworking.
